Vanhankaupunginkoski (Old Church Rapids)

Helsinki's best-known urban fishing spot, where the Vantaanjoki river tumbles over rapids right at the edge of the old town. Migratory Atlantic salmon and sea trout run the rapids in spring and autumn on their way upriver, drawing anglers to the fishing platforms below the old mill buildings. Because it's a protected migratory-fish route, fishing here requires the general Finnish fishing management fee plus an area-specific permit sold by the city — check current rules before casting.
